What you need
- A LinkSnappy account (plans from $12.99, code VAM40)
- Internet Download Manager on Windows (30-day free trial, then $11.95 per year or $24.95 lifetime)
- Chrome, Edge or Firefox with the IDM extension enabled
Step 1: Install IDM and enable the browser extension
- Download IDM from internetdownloadmanager.com and install it.
- Open your browser. You should see a prompt to enable the IDM Integration Module. Click Enable.
- If you do not see it, go to your browser’s extensions page and turn on “IDM Integration Module.”
- In IDM, open Options → General and make sure your browser is ticked.
Step 2: Set IDM for maximum speed
In IDM, open Downloads → Options → Connection:
| Setting | Recommended value | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Connection type/speed | Your real connection (for example “High speed: LAN 10 Mbps or higher”) | Lets IDM use more segments |
| Default max. connections number | 8 (try 16 on fast fibre) | More parallel segments, more speed |
| Speed limiter | Off | Unless you need bandwidth for others |
Some hosts limit how many connections one link can use. If downloads fail at 16, drop back to 8.
Step 3: Generate links in LinkSnappy
- Log in at linksnappy.com.
- Open the Downloader.
- Paste one or more file host links (one per line).
- Click Generate.
Step 4: Send the links to IDM
One file: click the generated link. IDM’s download window pops up. Click Start Download.
Many files: copy all generated links, then in IDM choose Tasks → Add batch download from clipboard. Tick the files and click OK.
Hands-free: turn on clipboard monitoring in IDM’s Options. After that, whenever you copy a generated link, IDM offers to download it.
Step 5: Use queues for large batches
- In IDM, create a queue (Downloads → Scheduler).
- Add your LinkSnappy downloads to it.
- Set how many files download at once (2 or 3 is a good balance).
- Start it now or schedule it overnight.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Fix |
|---|---|
| IDM does not catch the link | Re-enable the IDM extension, or right-click the link and choose “Download with IDM” |
| Download fails or restarts | Lower max connections to 8 or 4 |
| “Link expired” | Generated links expire after a while. Generate again in LinkSnappy |
| Slow speeds | Check your LinkSnappy daily usage (no overall cap; a few hosts have their own daily quota, such as 15 GB on Keep2Share) and try another time of day |
| IDM downloads a small HTML file | The link needs a fresh session. Regenerate it and click it in the same browser |

On Mac or Linux?
IDM is Windows only. Use JDownloader 2 instead. Add LinkSnappy once in the Account Manager and JDownloader handles everything. Full guide: JDownloader with a debrid service.
FAQ
Does LinkSnappy work with IDM?
Yes. Generate links in the LinkSnappy Downloader, then click them or add them in a batch. IDM catches each link and downloads it with multiple connections.
What is the best IDM connection setting for LinkSnappy?
Start with 8 connections per download. On very fast connections you can try 16. If downloads fail or restart, lower it to 8 or 4.
Why does IDM download an HTML file instead of my file?
This usually means the generated link expired or needs your logged-in session. Generate the link again in LinkSnappy and click it in the same browser.
Can I download several LinkSnappy files at once with IDM?
Yes. Copy all generated links and use Tasks, then “Add batch download from clipboard,” or put them in an IDM queue.
Is IDM required to use LinkSnappy?
No. You can download generated links in any browser. IDM adds speed through parallel connections and reliable resume.
Does IDM work with other debrid services?
Yes. The same steps work with AllDebrid, Real-Debrid and Premiumize links.
